Not much to say here. Just something else in consideration.EP3 Pilot

It seems like this helmet project is moving so quickly. It must be because I am not doing the work on it. I like “working” on things like this.

We started cutting the Kashyyk Helmet parts. We will get into assembly within the next few days. So far so good! The parts will be glued together, sanded and seams will be filled.

We CNC’d the Kashyyk Backplate this weekend. We had to use two different types of foam due to our shipment not showing up. Ugh. Anyway, it wasn’t so bad. Of course, we still have sanding and minor shaping to do before we fill and seal the foam.

Kashyyk Trooper Project….

Posted by: postmortem01 | Comments (0)

A while back, we started 3D modeling the Kashyyk Trooper in an attempt to get as accurate of a depiction
as possible. This is the model so far. We’ve had to adjust the model from what we thought was accurate to what will be functional. Apparently, the goggles sit too high for a human head. You would not be able to see out if we don’t drop the goggles

After getting the file to a point where we feel comfortable calling it done, we went ahead and cnc’d it from foam.

We’ve made some significant progress on the armor parts and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The armor is really coming out well. It is symmetrical and correct to the show/movie. We will be test pulling parts this week and will be working on the rubber parts needed to complete this costume. The armor parts will be pulled from 1/8″ thick high impact styrene on a professional vacuum table to ensure the cleanest pull and properly heated parts.

We’ve finished the shoulder bells. The hardes part was to get the proper proportions and angles. The shoulder bells, don’t seem to be the most complicated of the parts but it is one of the more important pieces of the upper body armor.

The chest and back armor are nearly complete. We have some clean up to do to some areas to remove pitting and sharpen the lines. We should be making test pulls of these pieces as early as Wednesday June 17th.
